Plenty of students have started a mistake notebook; far fewer have raised their scores with one. The difference isn't neat handwriting — it's method. A mistake notebook isn't a scrapbook of wrong answers. It's a system that stops you from making the same mistake twice.

  • First review: the next day — cover the solution and re-solve
  • Second review: one week later — if missed again, add a mark to the cause log
  • Final review: two to three weeks before the exam — sweep the whole notebook

Step 5 — Re-solve and let problems "graduate"

Reviewing means re-solving on blank paper, not re-reading. When you solve a problem cleanly twice in a row, it graduates from the notebook. Graduation keeps the notebook light and preserves the equation: what remains = what you're still weak at.

A problem you miss three or more times is a signal to go back to the chapter itself — that's a concept problem, not a problem problem.
