How to Use ReviewNotes: From a Wrong Answer to a Question You Solve Again

Mistake notebooks usually fail after the writing, not during it. People manage to copy the question out; what does not happen is opening the notebook again. Choosing what to revisit, hiding the solution, deciding when to come back — all of it is manual.

ReviewNotes takes over exactly those parts. Below is how one lap actually runs. There is nothing to memorise: do it once in order and it keeps going on its own.

Upload it, do not copy it

Do not rewrite the question by hand. Photograph the page or upload the PDF as it is. The longer capture takes, the sooner the notebook dies.

When you upload a PDF or an image, the AI splits it question by question. If the answer key sits at the back of the paper rather than beside each question, it is matched back by question number — so a past paper with questions first and answers last can go in exactly as it is.

AI extraction may use credits. Direct entry and editing, solving, and retrying mistakes remain separate parts of the ordinary workflow.

Questions that only make sense with a diagram are different. AI extraction turns pictures into short descriptions, so for those, slice them out of the image instead. The figure stays.

You can also type a question in directly. For the one problem that tripped you up in class, that is faster.

Two tags, no more

Tags exist so you can find the question later, not so the notebook looks tidy. One topic and one reason is enough.

Three reasons cover almost everything:

  • Did not know it — go back to the material
  • Knew it, still got it wrong — missed a condition or slipped in the working
  • Ran out of time — not a revision problem at all, a pacing one

Each needs a different response, which is why the split is worth making. Filtering on those tags later is what turns a pile into a plan.

If tagging every question feels like work, hand it to the AI. It reads the question, gives it a topic tag, and tidies tags that have drifted apart. AI tagging may use credits.

The note is storage, the set is the exercise

Once about ten questions have collected, make a set. The note is where things pile up; the set is what you actually sit down and solve.

Filter by tag as you build it. "Triangles I got wrong this week" gets opened far more often than a hundred-question note. Aim for a set you finish in twenty minutes.

Re-solve only what you missed

After a set, the questions you got wrong can be gathered into a new set of their own. This is the step that makes the rest worth doing.

The second set is shorter than the first. The third is shorter again. Shrinking is the point, and what survives is the real weak spot. Re-solving questions you already get right spends time without buying anything.

Do not read the solution first. The few seconds where the answer will not come is the part that builds the memory. Revision that reads smoothly leaves nothing behind.

If the book has no worked solutions, let the AI write them. Once a question that only had a final answer carries a solution, you can settle why you got it wrong on the spot. Check the current credit amount before the action.

Let the schedule decide your daily share

By this point questions accumulate, and deciding what to solve when becomes manual again. In Schedule, make separate plans for subjects or exams, then choose the notes and scope for each: everything, wrong, hard, or unsolved. Set the daily goal by problem count or minutes.

Each plan has its own review balance and can bring back problems marked hard. Switching plans changes the calendar and today’s work together.

Once today’s goal is complete, ReviewNotes marks a clean stopping point. Confirm that you want to continue and it pulls work forward from later days, shortening the remaining schedule by what you complete early.

AI can set a weekly strategy toward an exam date. It may use credits; the ordinary schedule still works from the scope and daily target you set yourself.

Fresh questions tell knowing from remembering

Get the same question right three times and you cannot tell whether you know it or have memorised the answer. This is where generated questions earn their place: a new question of the same type settles it immediately.

You can generate one at a time, or turn everything you missed in a set into a whole similar set at once. Before an exam, the second is far more useful.

Finish on paper

Close to the exam, print the set as a PDF and work on paper. The exam is on paper, and solving on a screen is not the same thing.

You can print the questions without the answers, so the same set works as a mock paper more than once.

Where it usually goes wrong

  • Saving everything. Skip the slips. Only mistakes you learned something from keep the notebook worth opening.
  • Too many tags. Past two, tagging becomes the chore that stops you saving at all.
  • Piling up notes without ever building a set. The note is storage; the set is the exercise.
  • Re-solving questions you already get right. Revision is supposed to shrink.
  • Setting the daily amount too high. A plan you miss comes back bigger tomorrow. Start at twenty minutes.
